The producers of the Czech co-production animated film “Even Mice Belong to Heaven” were awarded the title of Producer of the Year at this year’s Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux. This is in recognition of the outstanding work of European animation professionals over the past year.
The film, directed by Denisa Grimmová & Jan Bubeníček, was co-produced by Czech Fresh Films & Hausboot, French Les Films du Cygne, Slovak Cinemart and Polish Animoon.
The French company Charades, which represents “Evene Mice Belong to Heaven” abroad, was recognised as Distributor of the Year.
Another success for Czech animation is the nomination of director Michaela Pavlátová for her film “My Sunny Maad” in the Director of the Year category, as well as French director Florence Miailhe for her co-production “The Crossing”, which was largely co-produced by Czech co-producer MAUR film.
The awards are presented as part of Cartoon Movie, a pitching and co-production event for European animated films, which is celebrating its 24th year in Bordeaux, France this year. The winners in the three categories of these awards were voted for by the nearly 900 professionals who attended the event, which showcased 57 animation projects from across Europe.
